In the current climate we are aware that dressing change practices are under significant pressure and this has brought self-care strategies into the spotlight. Where appropriate, patients and their carers may be encouraged to change dressings and inspect their own wounds particularly during this difficult time.
To support this increased emphasis on self-care and home-based wound management we are pleased to introduce our new self-help resource, which is aimed at patients who are managing their wound care and dressing changes from home. The guide includes general wound management advice, health and wellbeing tips, and step-by-step details on how to change a dressing. The guide is available for direct download using the link below.*
The wider wound care family have also responded to the need for resources and support materials and the National Wound Care Strategy have produced a range of excellent resources including a diary and videos which are available to download via their website at https://www.ahsnnetwork.com/nwcsp-help-and-advice. Una Adderley, Director of the National Wound Care Strategy Programme in England will also be presenting a webinar next week entitled ‘How can healthcare professionals help chronic wound patients during Covid-19?’ Registration is via the EWMA website at https://ewma.org/pl/what-we-do/webinars/
In these challenging times we remain committed to supporting our customers throughout this period and we hope that this additional resource will further support our wound care clinicians and their patients.
*Please be aware that this is intended as general guide and patients should always follow the advice given by their healthcare professional. Patients wishing to utilise this guide must always discuss this with their healthcare professional first.
