Why AquaGuard?

Shower with Confidence

If you’re a clinician working with patients, or a patient who has a cast, wound dressing or an IV line you’ll no doubt be familiar with the daily challenge of trying to keep your site dry while showering. All too often home-made shower protections such as plastic wrap and plastic bags are ineffective and can leak. Using tape, or rigid straps can also be uncomfortable and restrict movement. Keeping the site dry is vitally important not only to minimise the need for unnecessary dressing changes, but also to reduce the risk of infection and post-op complications.
AquaGuard Boot® and Glove® are designed specifically to keep sites dry while showering so you can shower with confidence knowing that your wound dressing, cast or IV site are protected.

Easy to apply, Comfortable to wear

The AquaGuard Boot and Glove offer shower protection to sites on the legs, feet, hands and arms. They are comfortable to wear with the uniquely designed, Water-Seal Band® being easy to secure and remove. The Glove allows you to maintain a complete range of motion in the elbow, wrist and fingers, while protecting casts, wound dressings and intravenous sites from water and moisture. The Boot allows for a complete range of motion in the knee and ankle while protecting orthopedic casts and lower extremity wounds, dressings and surgery sites.

AquaGuard Glove

The AquaGuard® Glove is a disposable moisture barrier that protects all hand and arm dressings, casts and IV sites while showering.

The AquaGuard Glove was designed with the assistance of clinicians in hospitals. It doesn’t use adhesive or rigid straps and instead has an easy to use Water-Seal Band which is used to create a waterproof seal with a simple auto-locking buckle. The band doesn’t restrict movement allowing the user to freely use their arm as normal while keeping their site dry as they shower.

Each AquaGuard kit comes complete with 3 protective covers and 1 specially designed Water-Seal Band. AquaGuard Glove is available in a single size which is fully adjustable to suit the desired fit.

The Glove can be used to keep any site on the arm or hand dry when showering and is ideal for covering:
  • PICC Lines

  • Casts

  • Splints

  • Peripheral IVs

  • Bandages

To apply the glove:
  1. With the arm slightly bent, slide the glove over the area to be protected, leaving slack to allow arm movemen

  2. Prepare the water-seal band by pressing and holding the lever down to completely open the buckle.

  3. Slide the band over the glove and above the site to be protected with the loose ends facing towards the body.

  4. Pull the loose end of the band until the buckle is snug against the arm. Confirm an effective seal by attempting to insert a finger underneath the band.

  5. Secure excess band material by wrapping around the arm.

  6. Fold the excess material over the band to form a cuff.

The glove may be trimmed to fit by cutting excess glove material 3-4 inches above the site.

After showering gently pat the cuff and surrounding area dry before removal. Press and hold lever down to loosen buckle, then remove.

  5. Can I swim wearing AquaGuard?

  6. Does AquaGuard replace dressings?

AquaGuard is not a replacement for primary dressings, which are designed to keep intravenous and surgical sites clean and free of infection. Sterile dressings are designed to be undisturbed for several days, and even if waterproof, the use of soap products within a shower can lead to the waterproof seal being broken. Therefore, protecting the dressing with an additional showerproof covering offers more reassurance of an undisturbed wound or IV site. AquaGuard is designed as a protection to primary dressings and intravenous or surgical sites by keeping them dry during a shower.
