CEO Covalon Technologies (Europe) Ltd

I have worked with medical devices for nearly all of my career; I find personal reward in improving the standards of care for patients and improving the capability of caregivers to deliver that care.

I have worked extensively in the wound management market, most recently as the Global Business Development Director at a large multinational. Here I was responsible for all
non-organic growth for the Wound Care Division, leading internal and external teams, developing and implementing the Mergers and & Acquisition Strategy.

I also run a successful international consulting business.

Having worked with Covalon Technologies Ltd through my consultancy, I joined the company in January 2017. I am excited with the prospect of providing high quality products at

affordable prices, soon to be followed by some truly innovative products which

will significantly improve the standards of care in a number of specialist areas.

A unique approach

Shona Macdonald

Managing Director UK & Ireland, Covalon Technologies (Europe) Ltd

My overriding sense of purpose and therefore underlying passion is to make an impact on the quality of life for people with ill health.

Starting out in nursing, I qualified and practiced as both a Registered General and Paediatric Nurse, specialising in intensive care. Whilst working with SCA Hygiene in a variety of management roles I drove the launch of the continence healthcare brand (TENA) into the consumer market; thus helping to break the ‘taboo’ associated with incontinence and making self-care more accessible.

For the past 12 years I have worked in Wound Management, more recently as the Business Director for UK & Ireland for a large multinational, and latterly through  supporting the launch of a new and Innovative wound treatment; Natrox Oxygen therapy.

The NHS has always been at the core of my career and I fully empathise with the current dilemmas for the demands of improving care and budget management. I am therefore privileged to be in a position that allows me to do something positive to help my customers overcome this challenge.
